What's the Best Asset You Have to be a Successful Businessperson - Your Mind! It's not intuitive for someone to consider the importance of self-improvement when they stop to think about what they will need to establish a thriving business. It's not often you come across someone who was born with all the characteristics already in place to build and maintain a moneymaking business. It doesn't matter how smart you are or what your capabilities are, you will still run into hurdles. Although, again and again, we let our thoughts become blocks to our business success. It is very interesting to realize that if you think you will fail, then what happens is your mind will create the conditions for failure. Your mind is amazing and it's sole function (your subconscious) is to give you what you want in life. It does this by giving you the very things that you think about the most. Self-improvement and your thriving business go hand in hand. Some of the important items to consider are discussed below.
Perfectionist behaviors are an expression that some people bring with them to their business pursuits. There are a number of reasons why it exists, but for many it is simply anxiety associated with looking like the job is not done to absolute perfection. If you are like this, then you understand the havoc that can be wreaked upon a business. If the need arises for making certain kinds of strategic decisions, then the perfectionist often will experience anxiety. This type of person will often find all manner of reasons as to why the work cannot be finished according to a schedule. If you are a perfectionist, then you will need to either explore the roots of it or impose more habit changing approaches.
Everybody has a different approach to getting their work accomplished. We all have our own little systems for staying organized, etc. The answer to whether you are organized or not is a simple one and only you know what it is.
If you are a chronically messy person, then we feel you will benefit by exerting some discipline into your business habits. Is your workspace or home submerged in chaos. Do you get overwhelmed just looking at the mess and spend more time than necessary just doing a simple task? This is typical for someone who has an unorganized lifestyle. With all of your projects and information in unorganized piles, it's no surprise that you are a victim of overwhelm and indecision. It might seem counter-productive to stop working and take the time to get organized, but you will benefit in the long run and any time you feel you have lost will be regained many times over.
Getting to that point in your business where you need to hire help means you are doing something right. However, be aware of the type of manager you are, and you do want to stay away from being over-bearing or interfering. However, it is also possible that you may have a controlling personality. This is the type of thing that may cause problems with people being able to perform at their best. You will never overcome or modify something that hurts your business until you realize it and accept it. Obviously, if you can do something to resolve this, or lessen it, then you will be ahead of the game. This is a situation that can be improved, but it will take a lot of courage on your part to let go a little.
It's good business strategy to study self-improvement techniques and identify the areas in which you can improve because, not only will you be a better person, but your business will prosper. Most business people won't take the time to explore how a program of self-improvement can also be beneficial for their businesses. There are exceptions, though, and we believe the high achievers actively work on improving themselves because they know their businesses will improve if they do it. |
